What is The Second Heresy?

At its height, the Empire of Aer Arnad encompassed all of Linothor and much of Sulgate, ere it's fall came thousands of years ago. But its destruction was not total, for an heir of Aedar yet remained to propagate its empire, so that line continued. Aedar's heir, Aedar Arnad V assumed the throne.

It was nearly a thousand years later that the House of Arnad would again challenge the gods, with the imprisonment of Doerlia, goddess of Justice and the perversion and corruption of her Church by Emperor Derelan Arnad, and Queen Mother Urgath Arnad attempting to steal the divinity of Liyúvië, patron god of the elves. So depraved was The Emperor that he even went so far as to torture and execute the Avariel Maiden Yondmára of his own family for her part in assisting the escape of human and halfling slaves of the palace from his cruelty.

This unforgivable kinslaying of a much loved Avariel set off a wide rebellion throughout the Empire, and a combined alliance of Men, Elves, and Dwarves freed the imprisoned Doerlia, killed the kinslaying Emperor, and drove out Queen Mother Urgath and her followers who later became The Drow who continue their subterranean war with The Stout Folk to this day.

Despite twice challenging the gods, an Avariel Emperor of House Arnad yet sits upon the throne of Aer Arnad nearly a thousand years after this, The Second Heresy, much humbled and in full difference to the gods, oft shrinking from ambition in their lonely aerie towers.

High-Elven Sorcerer lords continue to rule what remained of Elven Dominion in the name of the Winged Emperor of House Arnad, and it was from among these Elven High Guard that Natyli Elosriad was born, raised, and trained in statecraft. As the Empire crumbled in the face of numerous assaults from human nations on all sides and rebellions from within, it was she who cut her twenty feet of golden hair with her sword and stepped out from the island capital of Helmrast to bring order to the chaos and raise the elven people from their reverie of regret.
