Orben and Regional Orcrest Regional Lore

Orcrest is the Western most province of The Empire of Aer Arnad; and Redfjord is a village in The Kingdom of Elm on a Tributary of the Eol river at a place once known quite tellingly as The Red Fjord. Historically, several major battles between the Kingdoms of Men and the Elven-lead forces of Aer Arnad have been fought here.

The most recent battle was the only defeat of Imperial Forces in centuries. Past battles had been lead by Orcrest's cruel Imperial Governor Natyli Elosriad, a powerful blade singer and diviner who allegedly knew the future. Natyli Elosriad - probably the second or third most feared sorceress in living memory - mysteriously disappeared before the battle. Without her foresight, the battle was lost for the Imperial forces of Aer Arnad. High Elves and men loyal to them were driven across the river back into Orcrest, where the province's politics deteriorated as rebellions began without the ancient warlord present to quell them.

Natyli Elosriad never returned. Nearly two centuries later, the province of Orcrest is collapsing, Sylvan Elves of the region are claiming independence from the Imperial Throne, men are rebelling against their High Elven overlords, and The Legions of Aer Arnad are officially withdrawing from Orcrest and returning to the capital of Helmrast, with a growing power vacuum on The Kingdom of Elm's border and many are left wondering what will come after the power of Orcrest has collapsed.

Dozens of factions; some current or former native Imperial loyalists, and some adventurers from abroad have come to the region to participate in an increasingly chaotic land grab, picking the bones of the once great Empire of Aer Arnad.
